Candi Dasa dive site:

Just offshore from Candi Dasa is tiny Gili Tepekong is just 100 meters long and 50 meters wide. There are no beach. The sides of the island plunge straight into the sea. The coral walls are steep and the canyon lined with huge boulders that appear to have fallen from the topside cliff, and bottomed out at 32 meters.

  • Type of dive: Boat diving ( 10 minutes)
  • Visibility: Variable; poor to very good, 6-25 meters
  • Water movement: Can be extremely strong current, more than 5 knots; sometime the current here swirls around the Canyon with a downward pull or " The Toilet " and if the conditions that strong swell from north or northeast on the surface, do not dive here. Unless you want to be sucked down in a swirling current
  • Marine life: Excellent coverage and variety; literally teeming with fish
  • Diver level: Advanced Diver or above
  • Access: 2 hours from main tourist place; Kuta, Legian, Semenjak, Sanur, and Nusa Dua
  • Highlights: Tepekong's Canyon, cave, white tip sharks
  • Other: There are actually three dive sites here: Gili Tepekong, Gili Mimpang, and Biaha Island or Likuan Island that offer some spectacular diving. The coral walls are steep, the water is cold, and the current can be strong
